Buddhist prayer beads or malas (Sanskrit: mālā "garland") are a traditional tool used to count the number of times a mantra is recited, breaths while meditating, counting prostrations, or the repetitions of a buddha's name.
Each necklace is handmade with stone or wood beads.
The number 108 has spiritual significance and is considered sacred in the Hindu religion.
The number 1 stands for God, the universe or your own highest truth, 0 stands for emptiness and humility in your spiritual practice and 8 stands for infinity and timelessness.
One may perform Meditation with mala as follows:
*Sit straight, keeping the spine erect.
*Keep the eyes closed.
*Hold the mala in the right hand. Let it rest on the second and third fingers.
*Use the thumb to bring down each bead while chanting the chosen mantra.
